Peaches, Pears and Plums!!!

It's that special time of summer again when a man's fancy turns to thoughts of - - -

Peaches, Pears and Plums!!!

Gone are the adequate and acceptable daily treats of winter - bananas,  apples and the occasional orange. Bring on that season when the world is ripe and bursting with tasty flavorful fruits of many differing colors and sizes.

My favorite is the apricot, which in recent years seems to be growing bigger and bigger. Almost in some instances the size of a plum, which by the way, is my second favorite fruit! The dark red or black plum, firm and oh so juicy and flavorful!

Yes, this is the season for the fruit aficionado. A time to enthusiastically enjoy apricots, plums, peaches, pears, cumquats, and grapes, both green and red, seedless of course. Add to that delicious collection of nature's finest other interesting fruits like kiwi and pineapple and of course all the berries - strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Let's not forget all the melons like watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew!

Finally, my childhood favorite, red ripe Bing cherries! Oh yes, let me sit lakeside on a lazy summer afternoon barefoot with a bag of cherries. Popping one in my mouth - pulling off the stem - spitting out the seed! Repeat, repeat, repeat…

Enjoy! These are the days we have waited for all year long.

The days of peaches, pears, plums and more!

Give Me All Four

Over the weekend, outside my window was what I hope will be the last snowfall of winter! Winter?  It is the end of March, which is officially spring.  It was only a few inches of snow. Not winter's worst attack, but hopefully its last.  That is part of the fun and joy of living in the midwestern section of the United States. We get to "enjoy" all four seasons. Some seasons I enjoy more than others.

My favorite is fall. It is something special to see the leaves change color, watch the sky get angry and feel a chill in the air.  Spring is my real close second favorite with winter and summer being tolerated. I tolerate them, but would never give them up. I enjoy living where I can see and experience all four seasons! I like to shovel, wipe perspiration off my brow, watch the flowers bloom and see the trees change the color of their leaves!

Yes, I’m a four-season kind of guy!

An Opportunity - - -

You say tomato and I say "tomahto"

You say potato I say "potahto"

You say you were fired

I say you have an opportunity to find a job you love

You say you are sad because you have received a "Dear John" letter

I say be happy because you are being given an opportunity to find a new love

You say you are pregnant

I say rejoice with this opportunity to create life

With every disappointment, failure or pain we have an opportunity

An opportunity to …

… find a job we love

… find someone who loves and respects us

… bring a beautiful loving person into this world

You say either (e'ther) I say either (i'ther),

You say neither (ne'ther) I say neither (ny'ther)

Don't lower your head and feel sad

Raise your head and recognize your opportunities!

2008

It is 2008!

Can you believe that?  I can recall just the other day when everyone was going crazy about 2000 and the fact that everything in the world was going to crash or come to a stop because the computers couldn't handle the change from 1999 to 2000.  It was a nonevent or orchestrated panic is what it was.  The computer programmers of the world united and made loads of overtime pay getting ready for 2000!  Way to go!  :->

But now we are celebrating 2008.  One thing that must be done in 2008 is for me to wish all my friends at Xanga a very happy new year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  May all your wishes and dreams come true!
